The presenter will share projects she has used in her multilingual math classroom at Berkeley High. The projects are open-ended and draw on students’ culture, language, and experiences as immigrants to the United States. The projects contain rigorous mathematical content. Attendees will work with some of the projects, view sample student work, and discuss the impact on student learning.

Masha Albrecht

Masha Albrecht has been a math teacher for 36 years in classrooms of diverse learners. She has been a speaker at math conferences and social justice conferences. Masha is an active member of the Berkeley Federation of Teachers and the East Bay Educators’ Workers Circle.
