17th Annual Northwest Teaching for Social Justice Conference

Jesse Hagopian is a Seattle educator, Rethinking Schools editor, Zinn Education Project staff, and co-editor Teaching for Black Lives. Samia Shoman is a Palestinian American educator in the San Francisco Bay Area, and is co-coordinator of the Middle East Children’s Alliance Teach Palestine Project. Suzanna Kassouf teaches at Grant High School in Portland, writes for Rethinking Schools, and is a 2024–26 Zinn Education Project Prentiss-Charney Fellow. Alice Rothchild is a retired obstetrician-gynecologist who has long worked in and advocated for Palestine. Dr. Rothchild is author of two Palestine-focused novels for young people, co-author of a toolkit for educators falsely accused of antisemitism, and is on the steering committee of Jewish Voice for Peace Health Advisory Council. Hagopian, Shoman, and Kassouf are co-editors of the forthcoming Rethinking Schools book Teaching Palestine: Lessons, Stories, Voices.
