Saturday October 26, 2024 10:30am - 12:00pm PDT
121
This session introduces the Oregon Trail Curriculum Project website, featuring anticolonial lesson plans to address oversimplified narratives about the Oregon Trail. We will demonstrate the first elementary lesson, “Why do people move?,” exploring migration, invasion, and forced removal, and the experiences of Native peoples in Oregon. Participants will generate lesson ideas to help elementary students analyze Oregon Trail symbols and discuss ways to collaborate with communities to create more inclusive representations.
